Weightlifting Tips for Women (and Hygenic Tips for the Gym)

Did you ever feel like you just didn't have the strength you usually had for working out (especially weight lifting) at certain points in your cycle? Well researchers say there may be good reason.Loma Linda University in California found that your muscle power decreases around 10 - 14 days to your ovulation. The decrease is caused by hormone fluctuation. When you do exercise, especially weight lifting exercise, your power may decrease up to 50%.
The solution?

  • Use lighter weight.
  • Drink more, to increase your hormone metabolism.
  • Switch to the treadmill, low impact aerobics or belly dancing!

Make Sure Exercise Equipment You Use Is Hygienic!

Going to the gym for exercise can give us more chance to get out from our routines, to make friends, and (may be) to meet new business contacts! Gym has become our new lifestyle. However, you might not realize that sharing the equipment and machine at the gym, such as dumbbells, exercise mat, gym balls, treadmills with so many members can be a mecca of germ spreading!

The book of The Secret Life of Germs has indicated that germs can survive for 24 hours on exercise equipment that is shared among many people.

To decrease your risk of germs at the gym:

  • Bring your own exercise/yoga mat
  • Wipe clean any equipment before you use it
  • Don't touch your face, eyes, or mouth aafter using the gym ball
  • Bring your own towel, and cover weight lifting benches before sitting or lying on it
  • Take a shower right after exercise, or at least wash your hands and face with soap right away, and shower when you get home

By taking care of the hygenics, you can keep your health safe as well as tone your body when working out at your gym.
